Firestarter Games is a way for us to share our love of the outdoors through games. We design small, strategic and packable games that deliver travel-ready tabletop experiences.
Get out there and get familiar with the natural parts of our world. We’ll do our best to continue that exploration through play.
How it all started
We met as outdoor instructors working on Vancouver Island and spent our time off paddling rivers and playing board games. We designed Downstream in 2021 as a challenge to ourselves to make a game we could share with friends and pack on trips.
Paired with Seb’s earlier design, Masters of Maple Syrup, we started a small local production run, sold to a few stores in our area and opened our online store in 2023. We’ve been steadily working on getting our games to a wider audience ever since and are now working directly with retailers across Canada and around the world.
We’ve been fortunate to have many positive outdoor experiences in our lives and try to impart the lessons learned from them into each of our games.

Contributors
Seb co-founded Firestarter Games with Dan. He works on game design and runs day-to-day operations.
Dan co-founded Firestarter Games with Seb when they came up with Downstream together.
Janine is responsible for many of Reforest and Reforest: Old Growth’s illustrations, including all of the trees!
Maddy contributed art to Reforest: Old Growth and is currently working on animal illustrations for Wilds.
Firestarter Games is based on the west coast of Canada.
